How long since you’ve had a hangover? Perhaps it was yesterday, last week, or a year ago. If you need a reminder, a hangover usually consists of (and is not limited to) a headache, nausea, fatigue, gastro problems, dry mouth and body aches. Ouch!
By now, you’d know better than to purchase any product that claims to “cure” a hangover. But what if you could prevent it in the first place? What if there was a way you could still indulge and feel human the next day?
Let’s start by looking at the two main contributors to a hangover:
DEHYDRATION: The main driver of a hangover is ethanol – the alcohol in your drinks. It’s a toxic chemical that works in the body as a diuretic, which means it makes you pee a lot more and you can become dehydrated as a result. Consuming alcohol also weakens your body’s normal defences against reactive oxygen species (ROS), thus compounding the damage even further. This leads to oxidative stress, which may also exacerbate the effects of a hangover.
OXYGEN DEFICIENCY: When you drink alcohol, the brain can’t use oxygen in an efficient manner. For the record, it takes 3 molecules of oxygen to break down 1 molecule of alcohol! This is the main reason you may experience a headache and fatigue the next day, as the alcohol compounds weren’t removed from your system while you slept.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT THESE CONTRIBUTORS FROM CAUSING A HANGOVER?
Dehydration:Introducingmolecular hydrogeninto your pre and post drinking protocol will help enormously with dehydration. Hydrogen is the smallest, simplest and most fundamental element in the known Universe. Your body is made up of 10% hydrogen. It’s extremely unique since it has the capability to act at the cellular level and is qualified to cross the blood brain barrier and through the cell wall into the mitochondria (the energy centre of the cell). Hydrogen targets damaging free radicals within the cell and turns them into water, hydrating the cell from the inside out. Whilst alcohol is creating oxidative stress in your body, hydrogen is mopping it up and protecting the cells and tissues from the resulting damage. Winning!
Oxygen deficiency: Have you ever heard about top level athletes sleeping in oxygen tanks so they could get over their injury faster and in time for the start of a major tournament? Well oxygen plays an important part inanykind of recovery, including the effects of alcohol consumption. When you’re hungover the day after drinking, your body is still taking a hit from the alcohol, plenty of which is still in your blood. If you’ve pre-loaded your body withliquid oxygen, it’ll be breaking down the alcohol into harmless substances and expelling them from your body much faster. The additional oxygen helps to clear your mind, detoxifies the impurities in your blood and increases your body’s energy reserves. Your body can do all the hard work as you sleep, so you wake up fresh as a daisy and ready to take on the day ahead.
Try the following hangover hack and you might be able to enjoy the next day instead of staying in bed eating your body weight in carbs!
Step 1:Prior to your first alcoholic beverage, take one tablet of SuperCellsmolecular hydrogen dissolved in water and a serve of SuperCellsliquid oxygen in water, in accordance with the recommended dosage based on your body weight.
Step 2:Prior to bedtake an additional serving ofliquid oxygenin a large glass of water as per your recommended dosage and add an additional capful for good luck! Leave it next to your toothbrush before you go out, so you don’t forget.
Step 3:Upon rising have a serve of hydrogen in water and then immediately follow with a serve of oxygen in a large glass of water. Have these separately. You can even put some oxygen into your coffee for an added boost.
Keep up your fluids during the day and remember the hydrogen will top up your energy levels, however if you’ve only slept a couple of hours you may need a nanna nap at some stage during the day to recover properly.
